From Basque Mountains to Bordeaux Vineyards

A 14-Day Slow-Travel Adventure from Spain’s Surf Coast to France’s Wine Country

Ready for an unforgettable journey through one of Europe’s most vibrant, flavour-packed, and sun-soaked regions?
Join us this June for a slow-moving, soul-filling trip from San Sebastián to Bordeaux, where surf breaks, sunset hikes, wine fights, and countryside châteaux come together for the ultimate European summer escape.

We’ll kick things off in the Basque Country, where coastal hikes, sidra dinners, and pintxo bars set the tone for good times ahead. Then we’ll make our way through La Rioja’s wine-soaked hills, cross into the chic surf towns of southwest France, and wrap up in the Bordeaux vineyards, toasting the end of our adventure with a private château stay, winery tour, and long table dinner under the stars.

Hosted by Cairie & Carles, this trip blends surf and slow mornings with culture, connection, and a touch of chaos (yes, the Batalla del Vino is on the agenda). It’s for travellers who love food, wine, and spontaneity — and who want to see Europe the Roam & Revel way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where does the trip start and end?

We kick things off in San Sebastián, Spain and wrap up in Bordeaux, France after two dreamy nights in wine-country.

Do I need to know how to surf?

Not at all. Surfing is completely optional — but if you want to give it a go, we’ll help you organise lessons and beginner-friendly boards.

Can I come solo?

Absolutely. Most Roam & Revel guests come solo — and leave with travel besties, inside jokes, and a whole new group chat.

Do I need to speak Spanish or French?

Nope! We’ve got you. Your hosts (Cairie & Carles) handle the logistics, language basics, and cultural navigation.

What should I pack?

You’ll get a full packing list before departure, but think: activewear, beachwear, comfy shoes, something cute for dinners, and white clothes for the wine fight (trust us).
